Hey peeps, it’s been a while since we last featured a client of ours. As a big fan of everything linen, we are so happy to introduce you to Katie from Beaton Linen!
Katie began by making clothing for her now 8 year old when they were newborns (Red Creek Kids) "Beaton evolved from that when folks wanted similar designs in adult form—I’ve always loved linen, I used it almost exclusively when I made quilts and small projects as a hobby before, scouring thrift stores for it."
We love hearing about Katie's linen tale and her tip on how to choose a good set of linen beddings. It was a real joy to see the mix of Sömn colours that she has chosen for her home in Lund.

Here's our interview with Katie:
What do you love the most about living in Lund, BC?
“We are so privileged to live here, it’s such a rich and diverse landscape. All the seasons are magical here, fall being my favourite. I absolutely love the magic of the ocean, we live between the ocean and the forest and love being able to explore both in a day.”
What is your number one go-to Beaton outfit in your closet this season?
“I almost exclusively wear the court pants and Arq tank, in different variations all summer long.”
We see that you've recently started Salty Flower Farm, can you tell us a little bit more about this new venture?
“We’ve lived rurally for over a decade so growing food and flowers have always been something we’ve done. The flower business came on somewhat organically, as my sewing job was passed along, I found myself exactly where I wanted to be, digging in the earth and really spending time on our acreage. We expanded our growing area and added more flowers so we could offer them to our community. It’s been a joyful endeavour, very excited to see where it takes me! Next year we hope to have a full flax field.”
Your favourite bloom this year?
“I love them all! But I have been in love with feverfew this year, and Iceland poppies too.”
What is your advice on choosing a good set of beddings?
“I think colour draws you in, getting a colour you love I think is #1.”
What do you love about Sömn beddings and why?
“Best linen bedding I’ve ever had, I can’t believe it took me so long to find you. It’s the perfect balance of crisp and soft and your colours are magic.”
It is obvious that you have a great sense of style and an eye for colours, can you share your tips on how you mix and match bedding colours?
“I wish I had something better to say than impulse, ha. I just choose colours I love in the moment. In the past, it’s been more earth tones. Now I’m drawn to yellows and soft pinks.”
