5 Awesomely Sustainable Brands Stealing the Show

Are you all about earth-friendly brands that put the planet first? Amazing! Us too. As a company that specializes in sustainable bedding, we at Sömn Home are all about being better in bed. Our earth-friendly home textiles have been stealing the scene since day one.

Of course, sometimes we have to remind ourselves there’s more to sustainability than luxurious linen bedding. Many companies have cast aside the rough-hewn granola stereotypes to create earth-friendly brands that are thoughtfully researched, impeccably designed, and skillfully curated. Welcome to 2021, where principles-led businesses are taking center stage with new products designed to create a safe, healthy, and sustainable world. This month, we thought we’d share a few of our favourites.

Nudie Jeans

Who doesn’t love a good pair of jeans? As a sustainable clothing co. Swede-based Nudie Jeans came up with their concept before the company was born—denim made from 100% organic cotton. By working with suppliers who share their convictions, Nudie Jeans is part of the Fair Weave Foundation, which creates safe and ethical working conditions across the whole line of production. Oh, and their jeans are awesome, like second skin wear them till they’re stingy and threadbare awesome. And when you’re done, there are programs to take the jeans back.

Nature’s Path

Ready for outstandingly delicious breakfast and snack foods? Nature’s Path dominated the organic food scene since way back in the 1980s—before organic and sustainability were ever really a thing. As a fellow Canadian, Nature’s Path is known for being non-GMO, organic, vegetarian. They’re certified by many outstanding organizations (including Fair Trade), which attests to their excellence as pioneers in the organic food market. Their production kitchens even support 100% renewable energy. As sustainable bedding savants, we admit we’re partial to the morning scene. Breakfast in bed, anyone?

Vitamin A Swimwear

With summer just around the corner, swimwear is just the ticket. Of course, Vitamin A doesn’t make any old swimwear. Oh no. These slinky suits are made from materials like recycled nylon, combining sustainably and technology to create stunning suits for men and women that are summertime sensational—in the water or by the pool. Vitamin A also gives back a portion of proceeds directly to environmental organizations that help protect our oceans.

Arc’teryx

Continuing with the outdoor theme, we arrive at Arc’teryx, the fashion darling of the sustainability scene. Beyond innovations in climbing, skiing, and alpine tech, their high-performance outdoor apparel is sustainably sourced and made using low-carbon solutions. They’re also Fairtrade certified and committed to improving working conditions wherever their products are made.

Paume

We couldn’t close off this list without a nod to one of the most popular products of 2020—hand sanitizer. We never thought we’d see a day when our hands were getting more alcohol than our livers, but Paume (voted Best Luxe Hand Sanu by Hello Giggles) has crushed the beauty scene with a plant-based formula that keeps hands cared for and protected. Packaged in a refillable bottle made of recycled plastic, Paume is Certified Plastic Neutral, which means they remove as much plastic from nature as they use. With a scent-sational blend of herbaceous oils—lavender, rosemary, cedarwood, citrus—a pump of Paume is pure germ-popping pleasure.

We hope you enjoyed learning about these super sustainable brands that care deeply about the planet. At Sömn, we want to empower our savvy earth-friendly consumers to become a regenerative force for the collective good.

Our line of sustainable linen bedding and home textiles is created by considering the entire lifecycle of each product, with a focus on agricultural pollution. For example, our wind-woven Eco Towels are fully traceable throughout the whole manufacturing process. We continually seek out improvements to our sourcing and supply chain. Our objective very simply is to establish regenerative practices around sourcing and then work with low-impact producers and partners. Any new materials (or processes) that don’t meet our stands are cut—it’s all part of our commitment to making wellness-obsessed home textiles.

By shopping for sustainable solutions, we can make a difference. We hope these global visionaries have inspired you with ideas to help you reduce your footprint and make your home as eco-friendly as possible.
